Volume One (94711) includes more than 1200 hoedowns, reels, and breakdowns in its 267 pp. These public-domain tunes are classified according to loosely defined geographic styles in the United States- New England, Southeastern, bluegrass, Midwestern, and Southwestern. For pragmatic reasons, "ethnic" styles, such as Cajun or Irish tunes, as well as Scandinavian, East European, and Mexican styles are not included here. Each entry is based on a rendition by an established player whose credentials as a traditional American fiddler are impeccable.
